What a consent agreement actually covers
This doesn't need to be a dense legal document. A good AI consent agreement is specific, readable, and designed to change over time. At a minimum, it should spell out:
- Which AI tools your organization uses and where they fit in your workflows
- What data goes through those tools — and what stays out
- How outputs get reviewed before they reach stakeholders (your human oversight commitment)
- How clients, donors, or partners can ask questions, raise concerns, or opt out
- How the agreement gets updated as your AI use changes. A simple change request process can achieve this in your organization.
Don't wait for a problem to force this
